Build every day: a tractor in 24 doors
Behind the 24 doors of Theo Klein's John Deere advent calendar are the parts of a 1:24 John Deere tractor, with a screwdriver. The tractor is screwed together, so a child can take it apart and build it again. A plough is included too. Theo Klein gives an age from about 3 years.
Revell's advent calendar with the RC Claas Axion 960 builds over a few days into a remote-controlled tractor of just under 10 centimetres. It also holds farm animals, a farmer, fence parts and batteries. Revell gives 6 years and up. Revell also has a calendar with the Deutz D30 in 1:24.
An animal every day: Schleich and Playmobil
Schleich Farm World advent calendars hold an animal, a figure or something for the farm behind every door. By 24 December you have a small play scene that goes with other Farm World animals. Older calendars, such as the 2023 Farm World calendar and Wettrennen auf dem Bauernhof, are sometimes still on sale.
Playmobil made Christmas-on-the-farm calendars before, such as Playmobil 9009. Each calendar's page shows whether shops still sell it.
How to choose
For a young child who likes to screw and build, the John Deere calendar fits. If an older child wants to drive the tractor, Revell's RC calendar is fun. If the child already plays with Schleich animals, a Farm World calendar extends the farm. Always follow the age and warnings on the box: there are small parts inside.
